Alex completes work experience at ANTLER

ANTLER recently took on 16-year-old Alex Williams for a three-day crash course in property marketing as part of a work experience opportunity.

Primarily based at Village Hotel in Eastleigh, Alex spent Monday to Wednesday trying his hand at each element of the business, including social media management, PR, marketing and creative design.

In an attempt to expand his possible career options, Alex contacted ANTLER founder and cousin, Simon Jenns, at the beginning of July to arrange a date.

Simon Jenns, founder of ANTLER, said: “It has been a pleasure to have Alex join us for work experience. When we sat down at the beginning of the week, we had a conversation about what he was looking to achieve and accomplish. Alex was keen to get a thorough understanding of each discipline within the agency because he had relatively little understanding of what a marketing agency does. It’s been great to watch Alex engage with different members of the team and understand the different services that we offer. Following conversations around the office will help him realise which areas of marketing he enjoys which I hope will allow him to form decisions around his future career. His attitude has been outstanding and I’m sure he will make an excellent employee.”

Alex Williams, commented: “I had no idea what I wanted to be when I was older, so shadowing the ANTLER team and learning more about how an agency operates, has been really interesting and valuable. My favourite subjects at school are Business, Maths, and English, so I enjoyed having a go at writing press releases, as well as learning about what it takes to run a business.”

Alex kick-started his time at ANTLER by sitting through the staff meeting, where he got a flavour of the agency and a general understanding of how the business worked.

He then got stuck in and spent time talking with each member of the team, to learn about their roles, including social media manager George Pizzey, creative artworker Emma Holdaway, and account managers Bryony Owen and Lizzy Brooks.

Over the three days, Alex learnt more about the services ANTLER offers, including its flagship digital brochure solution HybridBrochure®, a forward-thinking platform which helps house builders market their developments in a new and innovative way.

During his time at ANTLER, Alex worked closely with social media manager George to film some content for the company TikTok account, as well as learning the basics of PR from Eve, PR Account Manager.
